Iowa STEM Education
Public-Private Partnerships Symposium
Tuesday, December 2, 2008
University of Northern Iowa’s Maucker Union ballrooms
We are pleased to host an important one-day event that profiles some of Iowa’s best examples of school-business partnerships as a catalyst for inspiring other, new partnerships across the state.
Genuine and lasting change in the way we educate our youth in STEM fields will require innovative new ways of thinking about schools themselves. Iowa’s global leadership in science/technology/engineering/mathematics education is being restored one community at a time where “pockets of brilliance” have popped up to bring 21st century learning opportunities to Iowa youth. Every community has the potential, and every student deserves the chance to benefit when public and private sectors combine efforts. Exciting partnerships are beginning to emerge across the state; the time is right for sharing and expanding.
Who should attend?
- Education and business leaders with exciting partnerships to share.
- Developers of emerging partnerships who need a nudge.
- School or business leaders wishing to start a partnership. The event will be especially valuable to public-private partners who attend as a team.
