Heartland ConFABS - March 5, 2009
IMSEP partnered with Heartland AEA to offer the inaugural Conversation to Forge Alliances of Business and Schools (ConFABS) on the evening of March 5, 2009.
Over two-dozen educational innovators gathered to exchange ideas on partnering across the public-private spectrum throughout the Heartland region. Ideas and examples of successful partnerships were offered by Des Moines East high school biology teacher Kacia Cain and Rockwell Collins Community Relations Manager Cindy Dietz. An ensuing discussion covered potential projects, steps toward partnering, other successes, and some pitfalls to avoid.
IMSEP has created a database of contacts and programs, and a grant program to provide seed funds to fledgling partners.
Special thanks to Rob Kleinow and Peggy Christensen at Heartland AEA for co-hosting the event, and to Kacia and Cindy for giving their time to this cause.
