Great Prairie ConFABS - March 24, 2009
IMSEP partnered with Great Prairie AEA and Southeastern Community College in Burlington for the second Conversation to Forge Alliances of Business and Schools (ConFABS) on the evening of March 24, 2009.
Seventeen educational innovators gathered to exchange ideas on partnering across the public-private spectrum throughout the Great Prairie region. Ideas and examples of successful partnerships were offered by Southeastern Community College's Director of High School Relations Monica Hinkle, and Burlington High School's Industrial Technology teacher Betsy Wolf. An ensuing discussion covered potential projects, steps toward partnering, other successes, and some pitfalls to avoid.
IMSEP has created a database of contacts and programs, and a grant program to provide seed funds to fledgling partners.
Special thanks to Tami Plein at Great Prairie AEA for co-hosting the event, and to Monica and Betsy for giving their time to this cause.
