Iowa STEM Education Public-Private Partnerships
For Iowa to regain and retain leadership in STEM education, Iowans across the public-private spectrum need to engage directly in schooling at the local community level. Imagine the impact if, from the banks of the Missouri to the bluffs of the Mississippi, and from Spirit Lake to Keokuk, schools and businesses partnered to welcome and prepare 21st century learners.
Conversation to Forge Alliances of Business and Schools (ConFABS)
The committee that formed in the wake of the successful Iowa STEM Education Public-Private Partnerships Symposium on December 2, 2008 (linked below) proposed to conduct partnership meetings at each AEA across Iowa to help foster school-business partnerships — from Clarinda to Decorah, Canton to Keokuk, and all points in between.
These ConFABS (Conversations to Forge Alliances of Businesses and Schools), themselves partnerships of IMSEP, local AEAs, and area business representatives, are part of a mosaic of initiatives designed to elevate science and math education in Iowa to new heights.

The symposium was held on December 2, 2008 at the University of Northern Iowa.
Thank you to all the participants who devoted their day to helping plan and implement more and better STEM Education partnerships across the public-private spectrum in Iowa. The next stage will be to translate the many valuable recommendations into actions.
