STEM is the Future
By 2014, 6.3 million jobs around the globe will require science, engineering or technical training.[1] Looking for a way to help your son or daughter prepare to compete for those careers?
Whether your child has an aptitude for science, technology, engineering or mathematics – known as STEM - IMSEP is here to help you connect with resources you can use to inspire your children towards STEM fields, preparing them to tackle tomorrow’s challenges.
- If your middle or high school student is interested in pursuing an engineering degree, check out Iowa Project Lead the Way, a pre-engineering program that teaches science and math through applications to engineering. This program is offered at more than 100 schools across Iowa.
- What about the field of robotics? FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a great way for kids to learn teambuilding and build a competition-worthy robot at their school. Also FIRST Lego League (FLL) is an international program designed to get children interested in and excited about science, technology and engineering.
- If your child is already in college, studying math, science or another technical subject, they can find out about the opportunities to teach math and science through IMSEP’s Iowa-TEACH Mathematics & Science Teacher Recruitment program.
