IMSEP works to avert 'new Sputnik crisis'
Jeff Weld, director of the Iowa Math and Science Education Partnership, said a scare similar to the 1957 launch of Sputnik 1 by the Soviet Union might be necessary to get Iowa and the United States out of its current education slump.
