What is the Iowa-Teach seminar?
The Iowa-Teach seminar is both an exploratory course, and a gateway to opportunity in math and science teaching. For an hour per week, talented math and science majors hear from the experts and dabble in teaching. It’s tuition-free so long as you finish.
Who teaches the Iowa-Teach seminar?
Dynamic and award-winning math and science teachers lead the seminars.
When does Iowa-Teach take place?
The seminar meets 1 hour per week in the late afternoon throughout the semester. Several teaching opportunities with school-aged kids are built in.
Once you complete the seminar, Iowa-Teach offers well-paid internships in museums, nature centers, after-school programs, and elsewhere. It also leads to scholarship opportunities. And, outstanding math or science teachers connect with you as mentors. If you’re inspired to go on, information and advice are offered on the teaching major.
How can I get into Iowa-Teach?
Simply enroll in the Iowa-Teach Mathematics & Science Seminar and show up to first meeting. Or, if you need more information, ask your instructor for the name of the Iowa-Teach coordinator, or send an e-mail to the program manager at IMSEP@uni.edu.
