Quad City Engineering and Science Council
The Quad City Engineering and Science Council (QCESC) is an umbrella organization representing 36 technical societies in the Quad City area with approximately 5,000 associated members. The QCESC is non-profit and is actively seeking new society members as well as additional corporate sponsors.
The QCESC is beginning it's 50th year of operation and annually sponsors events such as the National Engineers Banquet, the Engineering and Scientist of The Year Awards, scholarships to local high school students, the President's Reception for local Society President's and provides judges for the local technical activities including Invent Iowa and FIRST LEGO League.

Given the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics) to Iowa's economy and quality of life, legislators will
enjoy a transformation of the Capitol rotunda to a STEM showcase on
March 7, 2012 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Both the Governor and Lt. Governor
are scheduled to speak at 1:00pm, reinforcing their commitments to STEM
education. Displays will honor outstanding STEM outreach across the state - from
the Girl Scouts to our universities, from 4-H to the Iowa Academy of
Science, from K-12 to our community colleges, and from nonprofits to
industry and trade organizations will all be on hand.

The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Physics will host the UNI/Area Education Agency 267 Regional Physics Olympics Competition for high school students. About 200 high school students from the surrounding area will participate. Student teams will use their understanding of physics to design and construct devices or setups within required specifications to perform specific physical tasks or procedures in a variety of events. The two teams with the highest total scores from the events will qualify for the state competition, which will be held April 13 at UNI's McLeod Center.

Come spend a day with the Quad Cities Society of Women Engineers and learn what engineers do. Girls will follow the same process engineers use to develop and improve products. They will take a close look at everyday items, how they are used and discover ways they can be improved. By the end of the program kids will earn their Product Designer Skill Building Badge that goes along with the aMUSE Journey.

2012 Moms Night Out for STEM (MNOS), a satellite event of the USA Science and Engineering Festival, is a one-night, multi-location celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in Iowa for moms and other primary caregivers. The events are produced by Iowa Mathematics and Science Education Partnership (IMSEP) and the Iowa State University College of Engineering. Events are sponsored by John Deere with support by IPTV.

High School students' showcase their IT talents and knowledge at IT-Adventure's two day event April 27-28, at the IT-Olympics. Teams from across the state compete in three different venues: cyber defense, game design and robotics. Teams also present their IT-related community service projects in this event, which is open to the public.
